There are plenty of resources available for classroom activities, composting guides, and opportunities to learn more about composting at home and at school.

School Composting Manual
This is a comprehensive manual which provides building instructions, procedures, explanations, and classroom activities.

Home Composting for Kids (PDF)

This is a Power Point presentation, most effective when presented in person to a group of students – but also useful to introduce composting to elementary-age children.

Composting at Home (PDF)

This is a presentation for older students and adults that is most effective in person, but still useful as an introduction to composting in one’s backyard.  It was used in a presentation for the Sharon Conservation Commission at the Sharon Town Hall.  It may become part of a library program featuring two ways to compost:  food waste collection for commercial composting and home composting.

Master Composter Program

This University of Connecticut provides a short program for those who want to compost themselves and advise others through presentations and appearances at farmer’s markets and outdoor events.
